The Fort Lauderdale Police Department has ramped up vigilance during Spring Break with several more officers assigned to the Beach area. Because we are located so close to the beach, it isn’t a big surprise that we have had some unfamiliar faces walking in the neighborhood, as well as beach-goers attempting to park on our streets closest to Las Olas Boulevard.
Unfortunately, we’ve also had three burglary attempts since Spring Break started in mid-March. Two of those were foiled through the coordinated efforts of our security guards and the Ft Lauderdale Police Department, while a third attempt was successful, with a visiting person’s luxury car being stolen with the key fob left in the car.
What is notable about these burglary attempts is that they were all conducted in daylight and in all cases, the perpetrators came into the neighborhood on foot or by bicycle. Further, in at least one of the attempts, the perpetrators (a group of youths) walked from the beach area into Seven Isles. If you notice anyone suspicious, the HOA Board encourages you to contact our security guardhouse at 954-997-2770. Please do NOT use the old guardhouse number, which belonged to the prior security company. We have posted the new number in several communications over the past 9 months; again, the new number is:
954-997-2770
In an effort to mitigate potential increases in vandalism during Spring Break, we have temporarily re-assigned our guards to remain primarily in the Guardhouse rather than continuous roving. This means that during this abbreviated timeframe, paid HOA members may notice a reduction in the frequency with which your packages are being relocated, or garage doors and gates are being closed, since street-roving will be lessened. We appreciate your patience as we concentrate efforts at the entrance, to monitor who is coming into the neighborhood.
