The Seven Isles Homeowners Association regularly monitors city decision-making that may impact Seven Isles. The following City actions pertain to areas in close proximity to Seven Isles:
Food and Drinks on the Beach
According to our Fort Lauderdale Area 2 Commissioner Steve Glassman, the city recently approved an ordinance on first reading to allow hoteliers on Ft Lauderdale Beach to offer food and beverage service, including alcohol, on the beach to their guests and members of the public who are renting chairs from the City’s concessionaire. The Commission discussed amending the draft ordinance to include a pilot period of one year to test the program’s success and allow stakeholders and community members to continue dialogue for potential improvements or modifications to the ordinance.
In his newsletter Commissioner Glassman stated, “I brought forward many of the concerns expressed at my district 2 pre-agenda meeting including safety, the opportunity for other beach restaurants and hotels to participate, and equal treatment of all visitors on the sand. I have requested that city staff continue dialog with all stakeholders and the neighborhood associations to closely monitor this pilot program.” You can learn more about this pilot program on the City website HERE.
East Las Olas Crosswalks
Fort Lauderdale Area Commissioner Steve Glassman, along with the City’s Transportation and Mobility staff, will conduct a virtual open meeting on November 3, 2022, at 3:00 pm, to allow participants to view the current design of two new East Las Olas Boulevard crosswalks. These crosswalks are slated to be constructed on the east side of Las Olas Boulevard between South Gordon Road and Bontana Avenue, and between Fiesta Way and Coral Way.
This project is an offshoot of the Las Olas Mobility Project that the Seven Isles HOA has been monitoring over the past few years. The City recently approved $500,000 in the 2023 fiscal year budget for the design and construction of these new crosswalks which are intended to enhance pedestrian safety and mobility.
The virtual meeting will include a brief presentation followed by questions and comments and will last one hour. If you would like to participate in the virtual meeting, please email TAMPlanning@fortlauderdale.gov.
The Seven Isles HOA welcomes anyone interested in serving on our board, including those who like to monitor City happenings that may impact Seven Isles, as well as those who enjoy camaraderie with other concerned neighbors.
