April will long be remembered as a COVID-19 shelter-in-place month, and Seven Isles was no exception. With unseasonably warm and dry conditions, many of us took to the outdoors. On any given day, one could see residents conducting virtual calls from makeshift offices in their back yards; people of all ages riding bikes, sometimes with dogs in tow (and in baskets); and neighbors driving by with face masks on, only recognizable by their vehicles.

On April 28, the Fort Lauderdale City Commission met to discuss reopening the city, including
recommendations received from a working group of community and industry leaders regarding when and how the City should begin to reopen within the guidelines set forth by the White House and Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The report can be viewed HERE.
Check the city’s website or Facebook account to read the latest information on the phased plan to reopen city businesses, retail stores, restaurants, hotels, salons, gyms, parks, beach, boating and waterways and other entities and pastime pursuits.

Our security guards were consistently working during the pandemic. A few weeks ago, an organized group of solicitors were going door to door on several of our streets, handing out promotional materials related to home maintenance. They were approached by the security guard on duty and advised of no soliciting in our neighborhood. Although they were initially resistant, the security guard was persistent. They disbursed once the security guard contacted the police. This past month our guards have also ramped up efforts to slow down traffic along Seven Isles Drive. While construction vehicles are often the culprit of speeding, just as many homeowners have been exceeding the speed limit. With so many residents now out jogging, walking and riding bicycles, the security guards have asked all of us to please be more aware of our vehicle speeds.

Until next time, the Seven Isles Homeowners Association Board of Directors wish you good health. Please continue to be cautious in your social interactions and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Moreo, President
