The 2023 Annual Meeting of the Seven Isles Homeowners Association was conducted on February 7, 2023. Residents from all streets attended the meeting held at All Saints Church off Las Olas Boulevard. President Pro Tempore Debbie Fitzgerald conducted the meeting and provided an annual report. Secretary/Treasurer Donna Zalter provided a summary of the annual budget. They were joined by other board members including Fred Brodsky, who serves as Chair of the Government Outreach Committee.

Brodsky was on the agenda to address key issues involving Seven Isles and the City of Fort Lauderdale in 2022 and 2023, including underground utilities requested for our neighborhood, as well as impact from the Las Olas Mobility Project. Both will have financial implications for residents of Seven Isles if enacted. Brodsky discussed the positive benefits of underground utilities on safety and valuations in Seven Isles, as well as provided an overview of necessary steps and timeliness if Seven Isles is to take advantage of this opportunity with the City. He urged residents to get involved with the Board in seeing this to fruition. Brodsky also discussed potential costs associated with the City’s designed Las Olas Mobility Project and gave historical perspective on the Board’s non-support of key elements the city wishes to enact. Residents wishing to understand more and get involved are invited to contact the Board via our email at hoa.sevenisles@gmail.com

Attendees also heard from Jim Fondo, co-owner of SIG9 Global, our security company. Fondo gave an update on security services and procedures enacted throughout 2022 and discussed measures that have mitigated car thefts and crime in the neighborhood. During a lengthy question-and-answer session, residents engaged in discussion and debate regarding current methods as well as the potential for speed bumps, a guard gate, and other ideas, all of which will be reviewed by the board at their followup meeting in March.
Attendees also voted to ratify the ballot and slate of new board members for 2023. Board candidates were in attendance and introduced themselves to attendees.
