Hope you’ve enjoyed the Spooktacular Halloween Parade and the Trick-or-Treat activities! … The Parade is a tradition for our community and our HOA residents and members, as well as guests and visitors who attend it from surrounding isles and communities.

Special thanks go to The Quinn family for running with the baton after The Fitzgerald family’s 17-year run, and for all their work on the Parade this year. Our gratitude also goes to a number of residents and board members for their generous donations in support of the Parade. Check out our website for pictures of the parade and the contest results!

As you all know, the Security Fund is earmarked for providing security services and related community safety measures, and therefore it cannot be spent on the Halloween Parade. We can only sustain social activities through the generous contributions of our members and the occasional fundraisers that the HOA holds.

Speaking of security services, Admiral Security is in charge of security for Seven Isles as of October 22, 2018. We’re delighted that a number of current and past Seven Isles security officers remain on active duty with Admiral Security assigned to our community.

Our community, our area, and indeed our city are going through many transformational changes. Seven Isles continues to experience the following trends:

  • An increasing number of homes are available for short-term rentals (on a weekly and in some instances nightly basis). This is causing an incredible level of intrusion and disturbance to the full time residents of Seven Isles.
  • Home demolitions and construction of new properties continue at full pace, and the resulting traffic of construction related contractors speeding through and often times blocking our streets.
  • Ever-increasing traffic volumes from landscaping, plumbing, electric, marine and other contractors as well as tourists pausing for “selfies” in our community and in front of our beautiful homes.

As mentioned in the Board’s Special Message on October 8, 2018, we as a board, and as a community, have to ensure that the HOA is getting the most value for our expenditures. It is in that spirit that we invited a select number of security firms active in South Florida to submit bids to the HOA as we looked at renewing the contract with our current provider. The bid process and vendor evaluation need to be done on a periodic basis not only from a fiduciary responsibility standpoint, but also from the perspective of ensuring that the security firm has the requisite licenses at all times and without interruption as required by state law, management strength, resource availability and wherewithal to operate at all times consistently, continually, and without interruption.

Our website sevenisleshoa.com has been up and running for a little over a month. Please take the time to register so you can get access to member-only content. The website is an invaluable tool to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in our community as well as be notified of any emergency alerts in real time. Furthermore, in the short time that the site has been operational, it’s become a revenue generator for the HOA through having local restaurants, realtors, and other establishments pay for ad space on the site. This income comes to the HOA either in the form of Cash or Gift Cards and, albeit minimal, will be used by the HOA for non-security related purposes at Seven Isles. We thank our neighboring business for their generosity and support of the Seven Isles HOA.

American Social on Las Olas has been especially generous to our community. Not only did they purchase ad space on the site, but they’ve also offered to host our members and residents for a Happy Hour reception to enjoy complimentary drinks and light bites.

Please join us on Tuesday November 13, 2018 from 6 – 8 pm to get to know your neighbors at what promises to be a wonderful event.

Lastly, as we head into the holiday season, we ask that you be extra vigilant with any and all unusual activities around the neighborhood. Call our Security Guards at 954.588.0457 if you witness or detect suspicious individuals including door-to-door solicitations which isn’t allowed in Seven Isles.

If you ‘re an active member – thank you! We couldn’t do what we do without your support and commitment.

If you’re new to Seven Isles and not a member yet, please join us. You can find a membership application in this newsletter, or you can join via our website.

If you’re a resident but haven’t been a member and/or have a past due balance, let’s start fresh – forget your balance, become a member effective now.

More memberships, more security guards, more resources, more peace of mind!

Here’s to a wonderful holiday season!
