The Yoga Joint. Reviewed by Seven Isles Resident, Julie Edelstein.
Moving to a new neighborhood is more than just finding the best places to shop and dine. Many of us enrich our lives with physical activity, so for me, when we moved to east Ft. Lauderdale a couple years ago, my main mission was to find a yoga studio where I could continue my practice. Luckily, I discovered this area has many choices! For several months I tried different studios, and while they each had their own teaching style and environmental flair, I hadn’t quite found the perfect place for me until I visited the Yoga Joint on SE 17th Street in the Portside Yachting Center.
New to me was Yoga Joint’s Fusion Flow, their signature class which is generally the same each time, but with minor adjustments depending on the instructor. I had never practiced at a studio that implemented this strategy, but I’ve come to learn its benefit: by knowing/expecting the flow, you waste less time trying to follow or understand the instructions. Once you’ve become accustomed to the routine, try Fusion Follow, which has minimal instruction and allows for a deeper, richer experience. An added bonus to the schedule is Fusion FIIT45, a 45-minute high-energy multi-impact workout. Get ready to sweat and burn some serious calories!
Naturally, once you become comfortable, though, something has to change, right? But sometimes change is good! Forced to relocate because the Portside Yachting Center was scheduled for demolition, Yoga Joint has moved, and Owner Paige Held is excited about it! The new Dalmar hotel, located at 299 N. Federal Hwy, is Yoga Joint’s new home, welcoming hotel guests and residents of neighboring communities like Seven Isles. Now my favorite studio is even closer, which will encourage me to bike, instead of drive, to yoga!
Who’s going to join me?
