First of all I would personally like to thank our HOA President Howard Steinholz and the rest of the HOA board members who go out of their way to consistently give back to the Seven Isles neighborhood and ask for absolutely nothing in return. HOA board positions are not paid positions but are volunteer positions that require a substantial commitment from each member. From monthly board meetings discussing ways to better serve Seven Isles to arranging social gatherings and everything in between not to mention keeping Seven Isles one of the safest neighborhoods in Fort Lauderdale they are always striving to help all of us that call Seven Isles home!

We have over 300 homes in Seven Isles yet only half of the homes support the HOA meaning that they do not contribute to the security fund yet they reap the benefits. I for one am shocked and sickened by this unfortunate statistic. All of us should be encouraging our neighbors to get involved and become members not freeloaders.

As in years past HOA President Howard Steinholz opened the meeting with a few words and who would be speaking at this year’s gathering.
Howard spoke from a safety standpoint about how our HOA board through the help of all contributing members replaced the entire surveillance system at the Seven Isles guardhouse meaning that Admiral security as well as the City of Fort Lauderdale’s police department will now have state of the art “eyes” on who comes and goes in and out of Seven Isles.

Commissioner Steven Glassman was up first discussing several topics from what was being done to repair the city’s aging sewer lines that have and are causing such problems to discussing a new plan for scooter rentals in the area.

Keren Bolter, PHD discussed climate change and how it is directly affecting our area in the form of flooding. Nancy Gassman continued the conversation as to what the City is doing to help alleviate some of the issues that the area is experiencing due to climate change and in particular the flooding situation which appears to be getting worse each year.

Police Officer Aaron Perdue spoke to the members as to what was being done from a safety standpoint in the neighborhood and advised of statistics showing our neighborhood is still ranked as one of the safest in Fort Lauderdale which is no doubt due to members contributing to the 24 hour security that we ALL enjoy.

I have converted the entire evening’s agenda into a PDF for your review. This is a great document that not only re-caps what our guests spoke of but has an entire section on king tides and flooding, what is being done in our area and what you can do to protect you and your property. Thank you again to all active HOA members of the Seven Isles community. Nothing we do or strive to do in this community would be possible without your support.
Regards
Shepard
